Last June 6, 2016, The Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Laguna Council conducted a “Tree Planting Activity” in celebration of  “World Environment Day”. The event was held at Brgy. Gatid, Sta. Cruz, Laguna in cooperation with Coca-Cola Far East Limited, Inc., Department of Environmental & Natural Resources, Laguna Lake Development  Authority, DepEd Division of Laguna and Baranggay Gatid, Sta. Cruz, Laguna. It was attended by Boy Scouts  from San Antonio de Padua College (SAPC), Linga National High School, and Colegio Monterei de Pila (CMP), Don Manuel National High School, Gatid Elementary School, with the Officer-in-Charge of BSP Laguna Council, Sctr. Cecille A. Manicad, Council Chairman, Sctr. Reynaldo A. Sabeñano, Principal of Gatid Elementary School, Ms. Teodora L. Collado and Youth Desk Officer of DENR, Ms. Ma. Magnolia Q. Danganan.


The program started with a prayer led by ES Joakeen M. Miralles of San Antonio de Padua College, followed by the National Anthem, Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas from ES Czar Gabriel Espiritu of Colegio Monterie de Pila, Scouth Oath & Law, Recognition and Welcome Remarks. One of the speakers, Sctr. Cecille A. Manicad talked on how a single tree one would plant, has a possibility of changing the world, She  shared a story about two people arguing on who will use in the parking space, using the shade of a tree and ended her message with a saying “ Hanap tayo ng hanap ng punong mapagpaparkingan pero ayaw naman nating magtanim ng puno”, that earned a round of applause.

After the opening ceremonies, the Scouts went to the Tree Planting Proper in Brgy. Bayside, Sta.Cruz, Laguna.
