Bahay Saliksikan ng Tagalog (Center for Tagalog Studies)

The Pedro de San Buenaventura O.F.M Center for Tagalog Studies aims to carry out quality archival, linguistics and cultural research focusing on Tagalog history, language and culture; bring to light the role of the Tagalog region in national history; provide the academic community with credible results from its archival, linguistics and cultural research; preserve and promote the Tagalog culture and traditions; contribute to the total development of the Tagalogs and the Filipino nation; and enhance public knowledge on the value and role of the studies center.

Vocabulario de Lengua Tagala

The "Vocabulario de Lengua Tagala", written by Father Pedro de San Buenaventura. O.F.M. while he was assigned to administer the parish of San Antonio de Padua in Pila, Laguna in the early 17th century. It was printed in 1613 by Tomas Pinpin and Domingo Loag.

Father Pedro de San Buenaventura was assigned to administer the parish of San Antonio de Padua in Pila, Laguna in the early 17th century. During his stay in Pila, he wrote the Vocabulario de Lengua Tagala and his work was printed in 1613 by Tomas Pinpin and Domingo Loag. The Vocabulario de Lengua Tagala is one of the most important books published during the Spanish colonial period and defined 16th century tagalog culture and technology. The Vocabulario de Lengua Tagala defined who we are.

The inaugural project of the center is to publish the entire Vocabulario de Lengua Tagala on the Internet to be accessed freely by many in order to expand Tagalog research.
